Marking goods in a highly flexible way

Karlsruhe, Germany | July 12, 2023

Information printed on labels provides the conditions for correct distribution, traceability, smooth workflows and economic calculability. Every operation is individual. Print volumes and widths are directives, so are label sizes and print image quality. When applying printed labels to goods, high processing speeds, variable data and products following each other tightly on a conveyor each are significant. Whether the goods are in motion or at rest at the time a label is applied and from which side the labels are transferred are further factors. cab provides more than 45 years of experience in this subject. In Brussels, the company located in Southern Germany will be exhibiting solutions for printing, dispensing and applying labels, with or without liner material.

The print units of SQUIX models, but especially HERMES Q, can be added by applicators. Depending on the operation, labels are applied onto surfaces by pressing, rolling along a conveyor or compressed air blowing. Labels can also be wrapped around cylindrical objects, attached to lab samples or applied as flags around cables. cab has just developed for the HERMES Q label printer a table tray for depositing the last printed label. This can be picked up by a robot, for example. In cases of operations changing, applicators can be replaced. The modular concept is worldwide thanks to standardization. Smart Labels are enabled by installing an UHF RFID read/write module and a RFID antenna to a SQUIX or HERMES Q. Using a XD Q printer, labels with a chip can even be printed on both sides in one operation. Textile service providers in particular benefit. Errors in sorting are eliminated. All data for a piece of laundry are available, resulting in full traceability and person-related billing for cleaning and provisioning.

Intelligent, future-proof
cab print and apply systems are designed for a wide range of operations, highly adaptable and integrable to automation plants. All the necessary interfaces, Industry 4.0 protocols included, are provided for this purpose. cab has digitally modeled an interface that enables cab equipment be used immediately in automation and robotics solutions. cab printing systems are therefore integrated to the development software of a German startup company. They thus comply with other modules of this marketplace kit. Individual integration to process technology requires minimum effort.
