ZPL emulation with cab printers
What is JScript?
JScript is the programming language for cab label printing systems
What is ZPL?
ZPL is the printer programming language developed by Zebra Technologies for Zebra printers.
What does a ZPL emulation do?
The ZPL emulation converts incoming data which was written for Zebra printers into something which is
understandable for cab printers to get the same print result. The emulation is developed for the conversion of ZPL 2 data.
Which printers are supported?
cab printers of the EOS and all X4 printers class (SQUIX, MACH 4S....) are able to process incoming ZPL data.
The functionality of the ZPL data conversion depends mainly on the fact how "clean" the original label has been
Restrictions and limits
ZPL accepts a lot of unstructured commands which can cause a lot of unclean programming code.
In that case it is hard to convert the unclean data into some clean code for cab printers.
Some functions are not available in cab printers, while cab printers support functions which are not available in Zebra printers.
ZPL fonts will be replaced by cab fonts (looks most times better than the original).
A comparison sheet between ZPL2 functions and the emulated functions is shown later in this document.
